“You wanna be?” LB responded nonchalantly. As much as Blair didn’t know what it was like to have a big family, LB had no idea what it was like to be the only child, “I’ll letchu have some of my brothers and sisters. Nieces and nephews included. I’m serious,” He joked, giving Blair a look with his eyebrows raised, “F’real, I’ll give you some o’mine. I ain’t jokin,” At her comment about being an uncle being a lot of work he replied, “Naw. They pretty good. Just can’t let’em know you scared o’shit.” Before long, they pulled up to the middle school parking lot and waited for LB’s nephews.

Blair was thankful being an only child. Her parents gave her all the attention in the world when she wanted it, especially when she was younger. And she couldn't have anyone take that away from her. She loved being in the spot light so much it was like giving candy to a baby. It was her moment, having all the attention around her. She laughed and shook her head. "No thanks, I don't want any." She said as she looked up towards the school, seeing a bunch of kids run out, happy the school day was over.

As the bell rang and the middle school kids came out, Lydell unlocked the doors, “Aww, why not?” To Blair’s reply, he shrugged, “A’ight then. It’s whateva.” When LB saw his two nephews, he opened his door so Cedric could open the back door and get in the backseat.
Talon opened Blair’s door, and saw her, “Who’re you?” The black 13 year old boy had an unfriendly look on his face; opened the back door and got in, “Are you LB’s girlfriend?” Talon and Cedric were LB’s brother Prince’s preteen hellions. Talon was always getting into fights, and always won. Both Talon and Cedric were soldiers. Just like LB, they’d been down since before they were eight. Everybody closed their doors, and they were driving again.

Blair smiled and shook her head. "No, we're just friends." She said and then looked up at LB and smiled. She leaned her head back on the seat and closed her eyes. Thinking about her plans for later that evening. She didn't have any, but she wondered what she should do. Just to pass the time. Playing dress up was out of the question for tonight, she was too tired and didn't want to be bothered by all her dresses and formal wear that she had to deal with. So she left dress up for another night.

“I got three girlfriends,” Talon boasted. He asked Cedric, “How many girlfriends you got?” Cedric answered, “Two. One’s name’s Monique. The other one’s Stephanie.” Talon named his girlfriends, “I got Keisha, Amber, and Brittany. Uncle Lydell, how many girlfriends you got?” LB replied, “More than both y’all together, cos I’m the shit and that’s the only thing you smell around me.” Cedric exclaimed, “Awh! Uncle Lydell, can we listen to that song?” “Hell yeah,” LB changed the song on his stereo system to Keri Hilson’s “Turnin Me On” featuring Lil Wayne. All the boys in the truck were singing rapping and car-dancing along with the track, and LB was remixing a lot of the lyrics.

Blair smiled to herself when they started listing and naming all their girlfriends. Some guys just played the game like that. And then her thoughts soon drifted to Chuck. For some reason, the discussion made her think of him, as her mind was now filled with her past of memories of Chuck. He was a lot like that in every way Blair had known him. But there was more to Chuck that Blair didn't know. She sighed and laughed a bit. As they began driving again. She placed her head on her fist which rested her elbow on the window. She had a lot of thoughts on her mind right now, and the music began to drown them out. Which is something she liked, she smiled and closed her eyes as her thoughts of Chuck subsided.
